AN ACT relating to traffic laws; clarifying provisions governing loads on vehicles; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. NRS 484.771 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2 484.771 1. [No vehicle shall] A vehicle must not be driven or moved

1-3 on any highway unless [such] the vehicle is so constructed or loaded as to

1-4 prevent any of its load from dropping, sifting, leaking or otherwise

1-5 escaping therefrom, except that sand may be dropped for the purpose of

1-6 securing traction, or water or other substance may be sprinkled on a

1-7 roadway in cleaning or maintaining [such] the roadway.

1-8 2. [No person shall] A person shall not operate on any highway [any]

1-9 a vehicle with [any] a load unless the load and any covering thereon is

1-10 securely fastened so as to prevent the covering or load from becoming

1-11 loose, detached or in any manner a hazard to other users of the highway.

1-12 3. The provisions of this section do not require a load on a vehicle to

1-13 be covered.

1-14 Sec. 2. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
