SUMMARY—Extends reversion date of prior appropriation to Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety for completion of Phase II of Implementation Plan for Business Process Re-Engineering Project and makes appropriations for implementation of Project Genesis Phase II and related enabling technologies and for additional expenses for registration of motor vehicles. AN ACT relating to the Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety; extending the reversion date of a prior appropriation for completion of Phase II of the Implementation Plan for the Business Process Re-Engineering Project of the Department; making an appropriation to the Department for the implementation of Phase II of Project Genesis and related enabling technologies; making a supplemental appropriation to the Department for additional expenses for the registration of motor vehicles; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. Section 1 of chapter 370, Statutes of Nevada 1997, at page

1-2 1315, is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-3 Section 1. 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state

1-4 highway fund to the Department of Motor Vehicles and Public

1-5 Safety the sum of $14,102,711 for the cost of completing Phase II

1-6 of the Implementation Plan for the Business Process Re-

1-7 Engineering Project through implementation of the integrated

2-1 registration and drivers’ license data base at a full-service facility,

2-2 as described in the Project Genesis Business Process Re-

2-3 Engineering Report, dated May 15, 1996.

2-4 2. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by

2-5 subsection 1 must not be committed for expenditure after June 30,

2-6 [1999,] 2000, and reverts to the state highway fund as soon as all

2-7 payments of money committed have been made.

2-8 Sec. 2. There is hereby appropriated from the state highway fund to

2-9 the Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety the sum of $7,707,993

2-10 for the implementation of Phase II of Project Genesis and related enabling

2-11 technologies.

2-12 Sec. 3. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by section 2

2-13 of this act must not be committed for expenditure after June 30, 2001, and

2-14 reverts to the state highway fund as soon as all payments of money

2-15 committed have been made.

2-16 Sec. 4. There is hereby appropriated from the state highway fund to

2-17 the Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety the sum of $10,800

2-18 for additional expenses for the registration of motor vehicles. This

2-19 appropriation is supplemental to the appropriations made by section 27 of

2-20 chapter 244, Statutes of Nevada 1997, at page 860, and section 1 of Senate

2-21 Bill No. 517 of this session.

2-22 Sec. 5. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
