AN ACT relating to state financial administration; reallocating an appropriation for education that was made by the 69th session of the Nevada Legislature; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. Section 53 of chapter 473, Statutes of Nevada 1997, at

1-2 page 1784, is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-3 Sec. 53. 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state

1-4 general fund to the department of education the sum of [$23,950]

1-5 $57,850 for the payment of compensation, per diem allowances and

1-6 travel expenses pursuant to subsection 8 of section 43 of this act.

1-7 2. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by

1-8 subsection 1 must not be committed for expenditure after June 30,

1-9 1999, and reverts to the state general fund as soon as all payments

1-10 of money committed have been made.

1-11 Sec. 2. Section 59 of chapter 473, Statutes of Nevada 1997, at page

1-12 1785, is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-13 Sec. 59. 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state

1-14 general fund to the department of education for the fiscal year 1998-

1-15 1999 the sum of [$82,100] $48,200 to pay the salary, travel

1-16 expenses, administrative and equipment expenses of an employee

2-1 responsible for carrying out, administering, monitoring and

2-2 evaluating the effectiveness of programs of remediation adopted by

2-3 the department of education pursuant to section 10 of this act.

2-4 2. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by

2-5 subsection 1 must not be committed for expenditure after June 30,

2-6 1999, and reverts to the state general fund as soon as all payments

2-7 of money committed have been made.

2-8 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
