AN ACT relating to diseased animals; requiring the state quarantine officer to maintain confidentiality of certain notices regarding diseased animals; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. NRS 571.160 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2 571.160 Whenever any livestock becomes infected with any infectious,

1-3 contagious or parasitic disease as defined by rules and regulations adopted

1-4 by the state quarantine officer, the owner or agent in charge, an inspector of

1-5 the division or any practicing veterinarian shall immediately notify the state

1-6 quarantine officer. A notification of disease received pursuant to this

1-7 section must be kept confidential unless the reported disease is

1-8 specifically regulated pursuant to NRS 571.130 for mandatory control

1-9 and eradication to protect the public health, other livestock or wildlife.

1-10 Sec. 2. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
