CHAPTER........

AN ACT relating to diseased animals; requiring the state quarantine officer to maintain

confidentiality of certain notices regarding diseased animals under certain

circumstances; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. NRS 571.160 is hereby amended to read as follows:

  1. 571.160 Whenever any livestock becomes infected with any infectious,
  1. contagious or parasitic disease as defined by rules and regulations adopted
  1. by the state quarantine officer, the owner or agent in charge, an inspector of
  1. the division or any practicing veterinarian shall immediately notify the state
  1. quarantine officer. A notification of disease received pursuant to this
  1. section must be kept confidential unless:
  1. 1. The reported disease is specifically regulated pursuant to NRS
  1. 571.130 for mandatory control and eradication to protect the public
  1. health, other livestock or wildlife; or
  1. 2. The state quarantine officer determines that a public health
  1. emergency exists.

Sec. 2. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
