THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. NRS 484.408 is hereby amended to read as follows: 484.408 1. Any parking space designated for the handicapped must1-3
be indicated by a sign:1-4
(a) Bearing the international symbol of access with or without the words1-5
"Parking," "Handicapped Parking," "Handicapped Parking Only," or1-6
"Reserved for the Handicapped," or any other word or combination of1-7
words indicating that the space is designated for the handicapped;1-8
(b) Stating "Minimum fine of $100 for use by others" or equivalent1-9
words; and1-10
(c) The bottom of which must be not less than 4 feet above the ground.1-11
2. In addition to the requirements of subsection 1, a parking space1-12
designated for the handicapped that is designed for the exclusive use of a1-13
vehicle with a side-loading wheelchair lift must be indicated by a sign1-14
using a combination of words to state that the space is for the exclusive1-15
use of a vehicle with a side-loading wheelchair lift.1-16
3. A person shall not park a vehicle in a space designated for the1-17
handicapped by a sign that meets the requirements of subsection 1, whether1-18
on public or privately owned property, unless he is eligible to do so and the1-19
vehicle displays:1-20
(a) Special license plates issued pursuant to NRS 482.384;2-1
(b) A special or temporary parking placard issued pursuant to NRS2-2
482.384;2-3
(c) Special license plates or a special or temporary parking placard2-4
displaying the international symbol of access issued by another state or a2-5
foreign country; or2-6
(d) Special license plates for a disabled veteran and a special parking2-7
placard issued pursuant to NRS 482.384.2-8

handicapped by a sign that meets the requirements of subsection 2,2-10
whether on public or privately owned property, unless:2-11
(a) He is eligible to do so;2-12
(b) The vehicle displays the special license plates or placard set forth2-13
in subsection 3; and2-14
(c) The vehicle is equipped with a side-loading wheelchair lift.2-15
5. A person shall not use2-16
forth in subsection 3 to park in a space designated for the handicapped2-17
unless he is a person with a disability which limits or impairs the ability to2-18
walk, a disabled veteran or the driver of a vehicle in which such a person is2-19
a passenger.2-20

(b) Upon the second offense by a fine of $250.2-24
(c) Upon the third or subsequent offense by a fine of not less than $5002-25
