THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. 1. The State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners shall1-2
appoint an advisory committee, consisting of five members, to recommend1-3
to the Nevada Legislature such legislation as the advisory committee deems1-4
necessary concerning the regulation of athletic trainers in this state.1-5
2. The Board shall appoint to the advisory committee:1-6
(a) One member who is:1-7
(1) A member of the State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners;1-8
(2) Licensed as a physical therapist in this state; and1-9
(3) Certified as an athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers1-10
Association Board of Certification.1-11
(b) Two members who represent the Nevada Athletic Trainers1-12
Association and have at least a master’s degree in a discipline related to1-13
athletic training.1-14
(c) Two members who represent the Nevada Athletic Trainers1-15
Association and have a bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to athletic1-16
training.2-1
3. The advisory committee shall elect a chairman and vice-chairman2-2
from among its members. A majority of the members of the committee2-3
constitutes a quorum for conducting the business of the committee.2-4
4. The members of the advisory committee are not entitled to receive2-5
compensation, per diem allowances or travel expenses while engaged in the2-6
business of the committee.2-7
5. The Nevada Athletic Trainers Association shall, upon the request of2-8
the State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, submit to the Board within2-9
30 days after the request, a list of the names of at least four persons who are2-10
qualified for appointment to the advisory committee pursuant to subsection2-11
2. If the Nevada Athletic Trainers Association fails to submit the list to the2-12
Board within that period, the Board shall appoint to the advisory committee2-13
persons who are otherwise qualified pursuant to subsection 2.2-14
6. The advisory committee shall recommend to the Nevada Legislature2-15
such legislation concerning the regulation of athletic trainers in this state as2-16
the advisory committee deems necessary. The recommended legislation2-17
may include, without limitation:2-18
(a) Educational qualifications and experience requirements for2-19
licensure;2-20
(b) The membership of the board that will license athletic trainers;2-21
(c) The fees for the issuance and renewal of licenses;2-22
(d) The requirements for continuing education; and2-23
(e) The grounds for disciplinary action.2-24
7. The advisory committee shall, not later than January 15, 2003,2-25
submit the recommended legislation to the 72nd session of the Nevada2-26
Legislature.~
