AN ACT relating to traffic; prohibiting a governmental entity and any agent thereof from using certain electronic devices to gather evidence for the issuance of a traffic citation; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. Chapter 484 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto a

1-2 new section to read as follows:

1-3 A governmental entity and any agent thereof shall not use

1-4 photographic, video or digital equipment for gathering evidence to be

1-5 used for the issuance of a traffic citation for a violation of this chapter

1-6 unless the equipment is held in the hand or installed temporarily or

1-7 permanently within a vehicle or facility of a law enforcement agency.

1-8 Sec. 2. This act becomes effective on July 1, 1999.
