THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. NRS 484.3685 is hereby amended to read as follows: 484.3685 1. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 3, a person1-3
driving a motor vehicle during the hours of daylight at a speed in excess of1-4
the speed limit posted by a public authority for the portion of highway1-5
being traversed shall be punished by a fine of $25 if:1-6
(a) The posted speed limit is 60 miles per hour and the person is not1-7
exceeding a speed of 70 miles per hour.1-8
(b) The posted speed limit is 65 miles per hour and the person is not1-9
exceeding a speed of 75 miles per hour.1-10
(c) The posted speed limit is 70 miles per hour and the person is not1-11
exceeding a speed of 75 miles per hour.1-12
2. A violation of the speed limit under any of the circumstances set1-13
forth in subsection 1 must not be recorded by the department on a driver’s1-14
record and shall not be deemed a moving traffic violation.1-15
3. The provisions of this section do not apply to a violation specified in1-16
subsection 1 that occurs in a county whose population is 100,000 or more1-17

(a) An urban area; or2-2
(b) An area which is adjacent to an urban area and which has been2-3
designated by the public authority that established the posted speed limit2-4
for the portion of highway being traversed as an area that requires strict2-5
observance of the posted speed limit to protect public health and safety.2-6
Sec. 2. The amendatory provisions of this act do not apply to offenses2-7
committed before July 1, 1999.2-8
Sec. 3. This act becomes effective on July 1, 1999.~
