AN ACT relating to state lands; creating a revolving account for land management; making an appropriation; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1-1 Section 1. Chapter 321 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto a

1-2 new section to read as follows:

1-3 1. The revolving account for land management is hereby created as a

1-4 special account in the state general fund.

1-5 2. The state land registrar shall use the money in the account to pay

1-6 the expenses related to the management of land held by the division,

1-7 including, without limitation, expenses for:

1-8 (a) Appraisals and surveys;

1-9 (b) Construction of fences and barriers for vehicles; and

1-10 (c) The cleanup and maintenance of the land.

1-11 3. The state land registrar shall:

1-12 (a) Approve any disbursement from the revolving account; and

1-13 (b) Maintain records of any such disbursement.

1-14 4. The state land registrar shall deposit into the revolving account

1-15 money received by the division as a donation or as a reimbursement for

1-16 or advance payment of an expense paid out of the revolving account.

1-17 5. The balance of the revolving account must be carried forward at

1-18 the end of each fiscal year.

2-1 6. If the balance in the account is below $5,000, the state land

2-2 registrar may request an allocation from the contingency fund pursuant

2-3 to NRS 353.266, 353.268 and 353.269.

2-4 Sec. 2. There is hereby appropriated from the state general fund to the

2-5 revolving account for land management created pursuant to section 1 of this

2-6 act the sum of $20,000.

2-7 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective on July 1, 1999.
