THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. NRS 0.050 is hereby amended to read as follows: 0.050 1. Except as otherwise expressly provided in a particular1-3
statute or required by the context, "population" means the number of1-4
people in a specified area as determined by the last preceding national1-5
decennial census conducted by the Bureau of the Census of the United1-6
States Department of Commerce pursuant to section 2 of article I of the1-7
Constitution of the United States and reported by the Secretary of1-8
Commerce to the governor pursuant to 13 U.S.C. § 141(c). The tabulations1-9
of population reported by the Secretary of Commerce for a particular1-10
decennial census date shall be deemed to apply for the purposes of this1-11
section from July 1 of the calendar year immediately following that1-12
decennial census date until June 30 of the calendar year immediately1-13
following the next decennial census date.2-1
2. As used in this section, "decennial census date" means the first2-2
day of April of 1980 and every 10 years thereafter on which the decennial2-3
census is taken pursuant to federal law.~
