SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION—Directing the Legislative Commission to
conduct an interim study to determine the feasibility of the establishment and operation of a
banking corporation by the State of Nevada.

Whereas, A large amount of the public money of this state is deposited1-2
in interstate banks and invested outside of this state; and1-3
Whereas, The Nevada Legislature has received testimony indicating1-4
that the establishment and operation of a banking corporation by the State1-5
of Nevada could improve the economic vitality of this state by:1-6
1. Providing for the retention of more money within this state;1-7
2. Insulating the public money from outside economic influences;1-8
3. Increasing the availability of banking capital in this state;1-9
4. Promoting the development and growth of commerce and industry in1-10
this state; and1-11
5. Providing an additional source of public revenue to relieve the1-12
financial burden on the taxpayers of this state; and1-13
Whereas, It is in the public interest for the Nevada Legislature to1-14
obtain sufficient information to determine whether it would be practicable1-15
for the State of Nevada to establish and operate such a banking corporation1-16
and achieve the desired economic results; now, therefore, be it1-17
Resolved by the Senate of the State of Nevada, the Assembly1-18
Concurring, That the Legislative Commission is hereby directed to1-19
appoint a subcommittee to conduct an interim study to determine the2-1
feasibility of the establishment and operation of a banking corporation by2-2
the State of Nevada; and be it further2-3
Resolved, That any recommended legislation proposed by the2-4
committee must be approved by a majority of the members of the Assembly2-5
appointed to the committee and a majority of the members of the Senate2-6
appointed to the committee; and be it further2-7
Resolved, That the Legislative Commission submit a report of the2-8
results of the study and any recommended legislation to the 71st session of2-9
the Nevada Legislature.~
