SENATE JOINT RESOLUTIONProposing to amend the Constitution of the State of

Nevada to extend the terms of office for the members of the Assembly and Senate.

1-1 Resolved by the Senate and Assembly of the State of Nevada,

1-2 Jointly, That sections 3 and 4 of article 4 of the Constitution of the State

1-3 of Nevada be amended to read as follows:

1-4 Sec. 3. 1. [The members] Members of the Assembly shall be chosen

1-5 biennially by the qualified electors of their respective districts, on the

1-6 Tuesday next after the first Monday in November and their term of office

1-7 shall be [two] 4 years from the day next after their election.

1-8 2. No person may be elected or appointed as a member of the

1-9 Assembly who has served in that office, or at the expiration of his current

1-10 term if he is so serving will have served, 12 years or more, from any

1-11 district of this state.

1-12 Sec. 4. 1. Senators shall be chosen at the same time and places as

1-13 members of the Assembly by the qualified electors of their respective

1-14 districts, and their term of Office shall be [four] 6 Years from the day next

1-15 after their election.

1-16 2. No person may be elected or appointed as a Senator who has served

1-17 in that office, or at the expiration of his current term if he is so serving will

1-18 have served, 12 years or more, from any district of this state.

1-19 And be it further

2-1 Resolved, That section 10 of article 17 of the Constitution of the State

2-2 of Nevada be amended to read as follows:

2-3 Sec . [:] 10. At the general election in A.D. Eighteen hundred and

2-4 Sixty Six; [and thereafter,] the term of Senators shall be for Four Years

2-5 from the day succeeding such general election, and members of Assembly

2-6 for Two Years from the day succeeding such general election, and the

2-7 terms of Senators shall be allotted by the Legislature in long and short

2-8 terms as hereinbefore provided; so that one half the number as nearly as

2-9 may be, shall be elected every Two Years.
