The Committee on Educationwas called to order on Friday, May 25, 2001, at the hour of 2:20 p.m. behind the Bar of the Assembly by Chairman Williams.

STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT:

The committee was called to order for the purpose of rescinding the previous action of Amend and Do Pass on S.B. 165.

 

Senate Bill 165:  Makes various changes regarding education. (BDR 34-218)

 

 

ASSEMBLYWOMAN VON TOBEL MOVED TO RESCIND PREVIOUS ACTION OF AMEND AND DO PASS ON S.B. 165.

 

ASSEMBLYMAN COLLINS SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.

 

 

 

 

The committee then took action on S.B. 165.

 

ASSEMBLYWOMAN ANGLE MOVED TO AMEND AND DO PASS S.B. 165 WITH THE AMENDMENTS IN “TAB Q” OF THE WORK SESSION DOCUMENT.

 

ASSEMBLYWOMAN CEGAVSKE SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

THE MOTION PASSED.  NAY VOTES:  ASSEMBLYWOMAN CHOWNING AND ASSEMBLYWOMAN SMITH.

 

Assemblywoman Smith stated a letter should be sent to the Legislative Committee on Education to further study the requirements for American history courses.

 

The meeting adjourned at 2: 30 p.m.
