The Subcommittee on Judiciarywas called to order at 3:02 p.m., on Tuesday, April 3, 2001.  Chairman Jerry Claborn presided in Room 1214 of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.  Exhibit A is the Agenda.  Exhibit B is the Guest List.  All exhibits are available and on file at the Research Library of the Legislative Counsel Bureau.

 

 

SUBCOMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT:

Assembly Bill 178:  Provides various changes concerning damages that may be awarded in tort actions against certain governmental entities and their officers or employees. (BDR 3-192)

 

Chairman Claborn opened the hearing on A.B. 178 at 3:02 p.m.  He disclosed to potential witnesses that their testimony would be recorded.

 

Chairman Claborn called for new testimony in support or opposition of the bill.  There being none, he informed the subcommittee that he would entertain a motion to recommend the indefinite postponement of A.B. 178.


 

ASSEMBLYMAN BROWER MOTIONED TO RECOMMEND THE INDEFINITE POSTPONEMENT OF A.B. 178 TO THE COMMITTEE.

 

ASSEMBLYMAN COLLINS SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.

 

Chairman Claborn announced that he would present the recommendation to indefinitely postpone A.B. 178, to the committee.

 

There being no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 3:04 p.m.
