Assembly Bill 175:  Requires board of directors of department of transportation to relinquish portions of certain state highways to county or city under certain circumstances. (BDR 35-820)

Colleen Wilson-Pappa representing Clark County stated A.B. 175 was Assemblyman Bache’s bill through the Assembly Committee on Government Affairs.  She testified in favor of A.B. 175 during previous hearings and was present to show continued support.  Ms. Wilson-Pappa announced there was a meeting scheduled in Clark County between NDOT and the southern Nevada local jurisdictions that might resolve the issues.  She opined a bill might not be necessary.

Dennis Baughman, Hearings and Special Projects Officer for NDOT, stated there was nothing he could add to previous testimony given by Director Thomas Stephens.  He affirmed a meeting was scheduled for March 27, 2001, with the District Engineer of NDOT, the Public Works Director for Clark County and representatives from the City’s of Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas.

Mr. Baughman perceived the purpose of this meeting would be to work out road transfer details.  He added there would be a State Board on Transportation meeting, Friday, April 6.  Mr. Baughman agreed to provide ongoing updates of the aforementioned meetings as requested by Assemblywoman Ohrenschall.

Seeing no further questions or testimony Assemblywoman Ohrenschall adjourned the subcommittee meeting at 4:23 p.m.
