The Senate Committee on Government Affairswas called to order by Chairman Ann O'Connell, at 12:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 22, 2001, on the Senate Floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.  There was no Agenda.  There was no Attendance Roster.

Chairman O’Connell requested a motion for introduction of Bill Draft Request (BDR) 28-746.

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 28-746:  Authorizes public bodies to use indefinite quantity contracts for certain public works projects.  (Later introduced as Senate Bill 473.)

 

            SENATOR CARE MOVED TO INTRODUCE BDR 28-746.

 

            SENATOR TITUS SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

 

            THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR NEAL WAS ABSENT FOR THE             VOTE.)

Chairman O’Connell requested a motion for introduction of BDR S-1178.

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST S-1178:  Provides for disincorporation of City of Gabbs.  (Later introduced as Senate Bill 472.)

 

Chairman O’Connell reminded committee members that testimony was heard on this request on February 7, 2001.

 

            SENATOR RAGGIO MOVED TO INTRODUCE BDR S-1178.

 

            SENATOR CARE SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

            THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR NEAL WAS ABSENT FOR THE             VOTE.)

Chairman O’Connell requested a motion for introduction of BDR 36-1347.

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 36-1347:  Makes various changes concerning adjutant general.  (Later introduced as Senate Bill 471.)

 

Senator Porter explained that this bill request would allow the adjutant general to be removed by the governor and would remove the requirement for the adjutant general to have been an officer of the Nevada National Guard.

 

            SENATOR PORTER MOVED TO INTRODUCE BDR 36-1347.

 

            SENATOR RAGGIO SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

            THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR NEAL WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)
