Seventy-First Session

The Senate Committee on Human Resources and Facilitieswas called to order by Chairman Raymond D. Rawson, at 11:13 a.m., on Friday, February 23, 2001, in Room 2135 of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.  Exhibit A is the Agenda.  Exhibit B is the Attendance Roster.  All exhibits are available and on file at the Research Library of the Legislative Counsel Bureau.

Chairman Rawson opened the meeting, and made note there were no audience members in attendance to present testimony on the scheduled bills.

 

SENATE BILL 110:  Repeals certain provisions relating to assistance to homeless persons. (BDR 38-623)

 

 SENATE BILL 112:  Revises certain provisions concerning amelioration of causes of poverty to conform to changes in federal law. (BDR 38-535)

 

 SENATE BILL 116:  Clarifies and revises certain provisions governing use of restraints and interventions by facilities for mental health. (BDR 39-346)

 

Senator Townsend asked Chairman Rawson to reschedule the hearing on the bills, since the testimony of the interested parties is important to the committee.

 

Chairman Rawson directed staff to send a memo to the appropriate agencies, stating in the future if agencies do not appear to testify, there will not be any postponement.  He stated, for today, the committee will assume there has been a communication problem.

 

Chairman Rawson presented two bill draft requests (BDRs)

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 34-348Makes various changes concerning charter schools.  (Later introduced as Senate Bill 243.)

 

 

SENATOR TOWNSEND MOVED TO INTRODUCE BDR 34-348.

 

SENATOR WIENER SECONDED THE MOTION.

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 54-974Requires certain providers of health care to submit their credentials to verification organization(Later introduced as Senate Bill 244.)

Chairman Rawson reminded the members that the committee has used all of the BDRs allocated to the committee.

 

Chairman Rawson adjourned the meeting at 11:17 a.m.
