The Senate Committee on Legislative Affairs and Operationswas called to order by Chairman Jon C. Porter, at 12:05 a.m., on Thursday, May 3, 2001, on the Senate Floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.  There was no Agenda.  There was no Attendance Roster.

Senator Porter explained there was a bill draft request (BDR) to be introduced that provides for some changes in the Legislature and the Legislative Counsel Bureau.  He said the bill draft was for legislative business.

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 17-1073:  Makes various changes to legislature and legislative counsel bureau.  (Later introduced as Senate Bill 570.)

 

            SENATOR RAGGIO MOVED TO INTRODUCE BDR 17-1073.

 

            SENATOR TITUS SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

 

THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR WIENER WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

Senator Porter explained there was a request for a bill draft to designate May 9, 2001, as Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Day.

 

SENATOR TITUS MOVED TO REQUEST A BILL DRAFT TO RECOGNIZE MAY 9, 2001, ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE AWARENESS DAY.

 

            SENATOR RAWSON SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR WIENER WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

Senator Porter explained there was a request for a bill draft to honor Robert Laxalt.

 

SENATOR RAGGIO MOVED TO REQUEST A BILL DRAFT TO MEMORIALIZE ROBERT LAXALT.

 

            SENATOR TITUS SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATOR WIENER WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

Senator Porter explained there was a request for a bill draft to honor Lee Smith.

 

SENATOR JAMES MOVED TO REQUEST A BILL DRAFT TO MEMORIALIZE LEE SMITH.
