AN ACT relating to historic districts; revising the qualifications for membership on the Comstock historic district commission; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1.  NRS 384.050 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2    384.050  1.  The governor shall appoint to the commission:

1-3    (a) One member who is a county commissioner of Storey County.

1-4    (b) One member who is a county commissioner of Lyon County.

1-5    (c) One member who is the administrator or an employee of the office

1-6  of historic preservation of the department of museums, library and arts.

1-7    (d) Two members who are persons licensed as general engineering

1-8  contractors or general building contractors pursuant to chapter 624 of

1-9  NRS or persons who hold a certificate of registration to practice

1-10  architecture [in this state.] pursuant to chapter 623 of NRS.

1-11    (e) Four members who are persons interested in the protection and

1-12  preservation of structures, sites and areas of historic interest and are

1-13  residents of the district.

1-14    2.  The commission shall elect one of its members as chairman and

1-15  another as vice chairman, who shall serve for a term of 1 year or until their

1-16  successors are elected and qualified.

1-17    3.  Each member of the commission is entitled to receive a salary of not

1-18  more than $80, as fixed by the commission, for each day’s attendance at a

1-19  meeting of the commission.


2-1    4.  While engaged in the business of the commission, each member and

2-2  employee of the commission is entitled to receive the per diem allowance

2-3  and travel expenses provided for state officers and employees generally.
