AN ACT relating to motor vehicles; requiring the department of motor vehicles and public safety to provide certain services through the Internet; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1.  Chapter 481 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto a

1-2  new section to read as follows:

1-3    The department shall establish a secure website on the Internet or its

1-4  successor, if any, through which a person may, to the extent feasible,

1-5  obtain a license, certificate or any other document the motor vehicles

1-6  branch of the department is authorized or required to issue or any other

1-7  service the motor vehicles branch of the department is authorized or

1-8  required to provide.

1-9    Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2001, for the purpose of

1-10  establishing a secure website, and on January 1, 2002, for all other

1-11  purposes.
