AN ACT making an appropriation to the University and Community College System of Nevada for the construction of a community college in Pahrump; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

   Whereas, The quality and availability of higher education is of the utmost importance to the residents of Nye County; and

   Whereas, In an effort to meet the need of higher education in Nye County, Nye County has committed $1,500,000 for the construction of a community college in Pahrump; and

   Whereas, The Pahrump Town Board has committed to dedicate, for this use, 80 acres of land that would be suitable for the site; now, therefore,

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state general fund to

1-2  the University and Community College System of Nevada the sum of

1-3  $5,800,000 for the construction of a community college in Pahrump.

1-4    Sec. 2.  Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by section 1

1-5  of this act must not be committed for expenditure after the project is

1-6  completed and reverts to the state general fund as soon as all payments of

1-7  money committed have been made.

1-8    Sec. 3. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
