AN ACT making an appropriation to the Office of Diversity Initiatives of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, for the support of a pilot program to increase the number of economically disadvantaged persons who complete 4-year college degrees; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state general fund to

1-2  the Office of Diversity Initiatives of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas,

1-3  the sum of $200,000 for the support of a pilot program, based on, but

1-4  expanding the scope of, Arizona’s “Hispanic Mother-Daughter Program,”

1-5  to increase the number of economically disadvantaged men and women

1-6  who complete a 4-year college degree.

1-7    Sec. 2.  Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by section 1

1-8  of this act must not be committed for expenditure after June 30, 2003, and

1-9  reverts to the state general fund as soon as all payments of money

1-10  committed have been made.

1-11    Sec. 3.  This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
