AN ACT relating to crimes; prohibiting a person from interfering with certain emergency medical attendants while rendering assistance; providing a penalty; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. Chapter 207 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto a

1-2  new section to read as follows:

1-3    1.  It is unlawful for a person to obstruct, impede or prevent an

1-4  emergency medical attendant from rendering assistance to another

1-5  person who is sick or injured when the person knows or has reason to

1-6  know that the person rendering assistance is an emergency medical

1-7  attendant.

1-8    2.  Unless a greater penalty is otherwise provided by law, a person

1-9  who violates the provisions of subsection 1 is guilty of a category E

1-10  felony and shall be punished as provided in NRS 193.130.

1-11    3.  As used in this section, “emergency medical attendant” means a

1-12  person licensed as an attendant or certified as an emergency medical

1-13  technician, intermediate emergency medical technician or advanced

1-14  emergency medical technician pursuant to chapter 450B of NRS.

1-15    Sec. 2.  The amendatory provisions of this act do not apply to offenses

1-16  committed before October 1, 2001.
