AN ACT making an appropriation to the Interim Finance Committee for expenses relating to the investigation of the leukemia cluster in Fallon; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state general
1-2 fund to the Interim Finance Committee for allocation to the Health
1-3 Division of the Department of Human Resources the sum of $1,000,000 for
1-4 expenses relating to the investigation of the leukemia cluster in Fallon.
1-5 2. The Interim Finance Committee shall allocate the money
1-6 appropriated by subsection 1 to the Health Division of the Department of
1-7 Human Resources based upon the recommendations of the Health
1-8 Division, including expenses relating to:
1-9 (a) The testing of victims of leukemia;
1-10 (b) The testing of the environment to determine what factors may be
1-11 contributing to this outbreak of leukemia;
1-12 (c) The compilation of data from the results of such tests; and
1-13 (d) The dissemination of factual information and health advice to the
1-14 residents of Fallon.
1-15 3. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by subsection 1
1-16 must not be committed for expenditure after June 30, 2003, and reverts to
1-17 the state general fund as soon as all payments of money committed have
1-18 been made.
1-19 Sec. 2. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
