AN ACT relating to contractors; revising certain fees for licensing a contractor; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. NRS 624.280 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2    624.280  1.  The board may adopt regulations fixing the fee for an

1-3  application, the fee for an examination and the annual fee for a license to

1-4  be paid by applicants and licensees. Except as otherwise provided in this

1-5  section and NRS 624.281, the fee for:

1-6    [1.] (a) An application must not exceed [$550.] $350.

1-7    [2.] (b) A license must not exceed [$450] $350 annually.

1-8    [3.] (c) An examination must not exceed $300.

1-9    2.  If a person submits an application for an additional license at the

1-10  time he submits an application for an initial license, the fee for:

1-11    (a) The application for each additional license is equal to one-half the

1-12  fee for the application for the initial license.

1-13    (b) The issuance or renewal of each additional license is equal to one-

1-14  half the fee for the initial license.

1-15    Sec. 2.  NRS 624.281 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-16    624.281  1.  If an applicant wishes to have his license issued in an

1-17  expedited manner, he must pay a fee for an application equal to two times

1-18  the amount of the fee regularly paid for an application pursuant to

1-19  paragraph (a) of subsection 1 of NRS 624.280.

1-20    2.  The applicant must pay one-half of the fee required pursuant to

1-21  subsection 1 when he submits the application and the other one-half of the

1-22  fee when the board issues the license.

2-1    3.  In addition to the fee required pursuant to subsection 1, the applicant

2-2  shall reimburse the board for the actual costs and expenses incurred by the

2-3  board in processing the application.

2-4    4.  The board shall adopt regulations prescribing the procedures for

2-5  making an application pursuant to this section.

2-6    Sec. 3.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2001.
