AN ACT making an appropriation to the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for costs relating to the preservation of Walker Lake; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state general fund to
1-2 the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Office of the
1-3 Director, for planning, cleaning up the river channel and buying upstream
1-4 water rights related to the preservation of Walker Lake:
1-5 For fiscal year 2001-2002.................... $275,000
1-6 For fiscal year 2002-2003.................... $375,000
1-7 Sec. 2. 1. The Office of the Director of the State Department of
1-8 Conservation and Natural Resources may use the money appropriated by
1-9 section 1 of this act for fiscal year 2001-2002 only if $100,000 in matching
1-10 money is provided by the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
1-11 2. The State Controller shall not transfer the sum appropriated by
1-12 section 1 of this act for fiscal year 2001-2002 until the Office of the
1-13 Director of the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
1-14 has provided proof satisfactory to the State Controller that the United
1-15 States Army Corps of Engineers has contributed $100,000 for this project.
1-16 Sec. 3. The sums appropriated by section 1 of this act are available for
1-17 either fiscal year. Any balance of those sums must not be committed for
1-18 expenditure after June 30, 2005, and reverts to the state general fund as
1-19 soon as all payments of money committed have been made.
