AN ACT relating to Walker Lake; requiring the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, through the Division of Environmental Protection, to continue to take action to develop standards for water quality for Walker Lake; requiring the State Environmental Commission to consider certain standards for water quality for Walker Lake; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. The State Department of Conservation and Natural

1-2  Resources, through the Division of Environmental Protection, shall

1-3  continue to take action to develop standards for water quality for Walker

1-4  Lake which recognize variable climatic conditions and the terminal lake

1-5  ecology of Walker Lake, including any special habitats within Walker

1-6  Lake concerning snow melt runoff and underground sources, and which are

1-7  attainable and sustainable taking into account existing water rights and

1-8  beneficial uses of water in the watershed upstream of Walker Lake. The

1-9  State Environmental Commission shall consider the standards for water

1-10  quality for Walker Lake developed by the Division of Environmental

1-11  Protection in accordance with the provisions of NRS 445A.300 to

1-12  445A.730, inclusive.
