AN ACT relating to public highways; directing the Department of Transportation to construct or cause to be constructed walls to function as sound barriers alongside a certain portion of U.S. Interstate No. 515 in Clark County; making an appropriation; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. To the extent money is distributed to the Department of

1-2  Transportation pursuant to section 2 of this act, the Department shall

1-3  construct or cause to be constructed walls to function as sound barriers

1-4  along those portions of both sides of U.S. Interstate No. 515 where there

1-5  are no existing soundwalls between Charleston Boulevard and Russell

1-6  Road in Clark County.

1-7    Sec. 2.  1.  There is hereby appropriated from the state highway fund

1-8  to the Department of Transportation the sum of $6,000,000 for the

1-9  construction of the walls described in section 1 of this act.

1-10    2.  The money appropriated by subsection 1 may be used only to the

1-11  extent that matching money is provided by the Federal Government, Clark

1-12  County or from sources other than the appropriation made by subsection 1.


2-1    3.  The State Controller shall only distribute money from the

2-2  appropriation made by subsection 1 to the extent that matching money

2-3  required by subsection 2 has been committed.

2-4    4.  When the walls are completed, any remaining balance of the

2-5  appropriation made by subsection 1 reverts to the state highway fund as

2-6  soon as all payments of money committed have been made.

2-7    Sec. 3.  This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
