AN ACT relating to the University and Community College System of Nevada; establishing the duty of board of regents of the University of Nevada to appoint certain administrative personnel; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. NRS 396.210 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2    396.210  1.  After consultation with the faculty, the board of regents

1-3  shall appoint a chancellor of the system[.] , a president of each university,

1-4  a president for each campus of each community college that has an

1-5  enrollment of more than 20,000 students and a president for each of the

1-6  other community colleges.

1-7    2.  The chancellor [shall] and presidents must each have a degree from

1-8  a college or university recognized as equal in rank to those having

1-9  membership in the Association of American Universities.

1-10    Sec. 2.  NRS 396.220 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-11    396.220  The board of regents shall fix the salary of the chancellor of

1-12  the system[.] and of the presidents of the universities, community

1-13  colleges and, if applicable, campuses of a community college.

1-14    Sec. 3.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2001.
