AN ACT relating to public health; requiring each health authority to establish and carry out a program to survey and control diseases that may be transmitted by arthropods or rodents; requiring a board of county commissioners to pay the costs of carrying out such a program in that county; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. Chapter 441A of NRS is hereby amended by adding
1-2 thereto a new section to read as follows:
1-3 1. Each health authority shall establish and carry out a program to
1-4 survey and control diseases that may be transmitted to humans, domestic
1-5 animals or livestock by arthropods or rodents, including, without
1-6 limitation:
1-7 (a) Encephalitis;
1-8 (b) Hantavirus;
1-9 (c) Lyme disease; and
1-10 (d) Plague.
1-11 2. The board of county commissioners of each county shall, upon
1-12 request, pay to a health authority the expenses incurred by the health
1-13 authority in carrying out the program in that county.
1-14 3. As used in this section, “arthropods” includes, without limitation:
1-15 (a) Mosquitoes;
1-16 (b) Fleas; and
1-17 (c) Ticks.
2-1 Sec. 2. The provisions of subsection 1 of NRS 354.599 do not apply
2-2 to any additional expenses of a local government that are related to the
2-3 provisions of this act.
2-4 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective on July 1, 2001.
