AN ACT making an appropriation to the Department of Human Resources for assistance in the operation of certain HIV/AIDS clinics and health care facilities; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state general
1-2 fund to the Department of Human Resources the sum of $1,000,000 for
1-3 assistance in the operation of HIV/AIDS clinics in Reno and Las Vegas.
1-4 2. The Department shall initially divide the amount appropriated by
1-5 subsection 1 in equal portions and allocate:
1-6 (a) One-half for expenditure in the southern region of this state by the
1-7 Wellness Center, Enterprise Health Care Center and any other health care
1-8 facility established by the University Medical Center; and
1-9 (b) One-half for expenditure in the northern region of this state by the
1-10 Northern Nevada HIV Outpatient Program, Education and Services
1-11 Clinic.
1-12 Any unused or uncommitted balance from one region may be transferred
1-13 by the Department for use in the other region.
1-14 3. The money appropriated by subsection 1 must be used for capital
1-15 projects, including, without limitation, facilities, equipment, fixtures and
1-16 furnishings related to health care treatment.
2-1 Sec. 2. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by section 1
2-2 of this act must not be committed for expenditure after June 30, 2003, and
2-3 reverts to the state general fund as soon as all payments of money
2-4 committed have been made.
2-5 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
