AN ACT making appropriations for the design and planning of a facility for vocational training in Southern Nevada and for the design and planning of a performing arts center in the City of Las Vegas; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. 1.  There is hereby appropriated from the state general

1-2  fund to the Culinary and Hospitality Academy of Las Vegas the sum of

1-3  $750,000 for the design and planning of a facility for vocational training in

1-4  Southern Nevada.

1-5    2.  Upon acceptance of the money appropriated by subsection 1, the

1-6  Culinary and Hospitality Academy of Las Vegas agrees to:

1-7    (a) Prepare and transmit a report to the Interim Finance Committee on

1-8  or before December 15, 2002, that describes each expenditure made from

1-9  the money appropriated by subsection 1 from the date on which the money

1-10  was received by the Culinary and Hospitality Academy of Las Vegas

1-11  through December 1, 2002; and

1-12  (b) Upon request of the Legislative Commission, make available to the

1-13  Legislative Auditor any books, accounts, claims, reports, vouchers or other

1-14  records of information, confidential or otherwise and irrespective of their

1-15  form or location, that the Legislative Auditor deems necessary to conduct

1-16  any audit of the use of the money appropriated pursuant to subsection 1.

1-17  Sec. 2.  1.  There is hereby appropriated from the state general fund

1-18  to the Department of Cultural Affairs the sum of $250,000 for distribution


2-1  to the Las Vegas Performing Arts Center Foundation for the design and

2-2  planning of a performing arts center in the City of Las Vegas.

2-3    2.  Upon acceptance of the money appropriated by subsection 1, the

2-4  Las Vegas Performing Arts Center Foundation agrees to:

2-5    (a) Prepare and transmit a report to the Interim Finance Committee on

2-6  or before December 15, 2002, that describes each expenditure made from

2-7  the money appropriated by subsection 1 from the date on which the money

2-8  was received by the Las Vegas Performing Arts Center Foundation through

2-9  December 1, 2002; and

2-10  (b) Upon request of the Legislative Commission, make available to the

2-11  Legislative Auditor any books, accounts, claims, reports, vouchers or other

2-12  records of information, confidential or otherwise and irrespective of their

2-13  form or location, that the Legislative Auditor deems necessary to conduct

2-14  any audit of the use of the money appropriated pursuant to subsection 1.

2-15  Sec. 3.  Any remaining balance of the appropriations made by sections

2-16  1 and 2 of this act must not be committed for expenditure after June 30,

2-17  2003, and reverts to the state general fund as soon as all payments of

2-18  money committed have been made.

2-19    Sec. 4.  This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
