AN ACT relating to the department of motor vehicles and public safety; requiring the department to offer to provide assistance to certain persons in complying with the Military Selective Service Act under certain circumstances; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. Chapter 483 of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto a

1-2  new section to read as follows:

1-3    The department shall, in cooperation with the Selective Service

1-4  System, offer to provide assistance in complying with the provisions of

1-5  the Military Selective Service Act, 50 U.S.C. App. §§ 451 et seq., to each

1-6  person who, at the time he applies for the issuance or renewal of a

1-7  driver’s license or identification card pursuant to NRS 483.010 to

1-8  483.630, inclusive, or a commercial driver’s license pursuant to NRS

1-9  483.900 to 483.940, inclusive, is eligible for registration pursuant to the

1-10  provisions of that Act.

1-11    Sec. 2.  NRS 483.015 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-12    483.015  Except as otherwise provided in NRS 483.330, and section 1

1-13  of this act, the provisions of NRS 483.010 to 483.630, inclusive, and

1-14  section 1 of this act, apply only with respect to noncommercial drivers’

1-15  licenses.
