AN ACT relating to the public utilities commission of Nevada; authorizing a fee for the filing of complaints by utilities and other entities regulated by the commission; prohibiting the assessment of such fees on other persons; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1.  NRS 703.197 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2    703.197  1.  The commission may collect fees for the filing of any

1-3  official document required by this chapter and chapters 704, 704A, 705 and

1-4  708 of NRS or by a regulation of the commission.

1-5    2.  Filing fees may not exceed:

1-6    (a) For applications, $200.

1-7    (b) For petitions seeking affirmative relief, $200.

1-8    (c) For complaints filed by a utility or other entity regulated by the

1-9  commission, $200.

1-10    (d) For each tariff page which requires public notice and is not attached

1-11  to an application, $10. If more than one page is filed at one time, the total

1-12  fee may not exceed the cost of notice and publication.

1-13    [(d)] (e) For all other documents which require public notice, $10.

1-14    3.  If an application or other document is rejected by the commission

1-15  because it is inadequate or inappropriate, the filing fee must be returned.

1-16    4.  The commission [may] shall not charge a person other than a

1-17  utility or other entity that is regulated by the commission any fee for filing

1-18  a complaint.
