Assembly Joint RESOLUTION—Proposing to amend the Constitution of the State of Nevada to remove the requirements that the system for county and township government be uniform and that the Legislature fix the compensation of county officers and to authorize the Legislature to provide for the appointment of county officers.

 

1-1    Resolved by the Assembly and Senate of the State of Nevada,

1-2  Jointly, That sections 25 and 32 of article 4 of the Constitution of the

1-3  State of Nevada be amended to read respectively as follows:

1-4    Sec. 25.  The Legislature shall establish a system of County and

1-5  Township Government . [which shall be uniform throughout the State.]

1-6    Sec. 32.  The Legislature shall have power to increase, diminish,

1-7  consolidate or abolish the following county officers: County Clerks,

1-8  County Recorders, Auditors, Sheriffs, District Attorneys and Public

1-9  Administrators. The Legislature shall provide for their election by the

1-10  people [,] or their appointment, and fix by law their duties . [and

1-11  compensation.] County Clerks shall be ex-officio Clerks of the Courts of

1-12  Record and of the Boards of County Commissioners in and for their

1-13  respective counties.
