AN ACT making an appropriation to the legislative fund for use by the Legislative Committee on Public Lands in awarding grants or expending money for certain projects relating to public lands; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state general fund to

1-2  the legislative fund, created by NRS 218.085, the sum of $250,000 for use

1-3  by the Legislative Committee on Public Lands for the following purposes:

1-4    1.  To maximize opportunities for the transfer and acquisition of federal

1-5  public lands within the State of Nevada;

1-6    2.  To study water management practices within the Humboldt River

1-7  Basin; or

1-8    3.  Any other purpose related to maximizing the utilization and

1-9  enjoyment of public lands by residents of this state.

1-10  The money appropriated pursuant to this section may be expended directly

1-11  by the Legislative Committee on Public Lands or through money granted

1-12  to applicants.

1-13    Sec. 2.  Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by section 1

1-14  of this act must not be committed for expenditure after June 30, 2003, and

1-15  reverts to the state general fund as soon as all payments of money

1-16  committed have been made.

 

2-1    Sec. 3.  This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
