AN ACT relating to education; removing the commission on postsecondary education from the department of education; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. NRS 385.010 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2    385.010  1.  A department of education is hereby created.

1-3    2.  The department consists of the state board of education, the state

1-4  board for occupational education[,] and the superintendent of public

1-5  instruction . [and the commission on postsecondary education.]

1-6    3.  The superintendent of public instruction is the executive head of the

1-7  department.

1-8    Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2001.
