AN ACT making an appropriation to Carson City for the establishment of housing in Carson City for persons returning to the community from institutional care; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
Whereas, The State of Nevada values all residents for their many contributions to this state; and
Whereas, It is a priority of the State of Nevada that all residents lead the most productive lives possible; and
Whereas, One of the most important steps in supporting disenfranchised persons is to ensure that appropriate housing and support are available; and
Whereas, The transition into a community is extremely difficult for those persons who have required residential care; and
Whereas, Residents of Carson City and Douglas, Lyon, Storey and Churchill counties have limited resources and to date have not been able to provide adequate transitional housing for such persons who desire to become productive members of their communities; now, therefore,
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state general fund to
1-2 Carson City the sum of $350,000 for the establishment of housing in
1-3 Carson City for persons returning to the community from institutional care.
1-4 Sec. 2. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by section 1
1-5 of this act must not be committed for expenditure after June 30, 2003, and
1-6 reverts to the state general fund as soon as all payments of money
1-7 committed have been made.
2-1 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
