AN ACT relating to state employees; providing for the payment of retention bonuses to persons employed in the classified or unclassified service of this state; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any specific statute
1-2 to the contrary, and except as otherwise provided in subsection 2, each
1-3 person who is employed in the classified or unclassified service of this
1-4 state on the effective date of this act is entitled to receive a retention bonus
1-5 of $20 for each full calendar month of continuous service during the period
1-6 beginning on January 1, 1991, and ending on December 31, 2000.
1-7 2. If an employee had an interruption in continuous service at any time
1-8 during the period described in subsection 1, or at any time thereafter which
1-9 is before the effective date of this act, no month served by the employee at
1-10 any time before the interruption in continuous service may be counted in
1-11 determining the amount of the employee’s retention bonus pursuant to this
1-12 section.
1-13 3. As used in this section, “continuous service” means uninterrupted
1-14 service as defined by the personnel commission pursuant to NRS 284.177.
1-15 Sec. 2. The bonuses required by section 1 of this act must be paid as
1-16 soon as practicable after the effective date of this act.
1-17 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
