AN ACT relating to public employees; directing the Department of Personnel to increase the salaries of certain classified positions in the Department of Prisons; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. 1.  The Department of Personnel shall increase the level

1-2  of compensation of all custody positions within the Department of Prisons

1-3  on the pay plan for employees in the classified service of the state that is

1-4  adopted pursuant to NRS 284.175 by:

1-5    (a) One grade, effective on January 1, 2002.

1-6    (b) One grade, effective on July 1, 2002.

1-7    (c) Two grades, effective on January 1, 2003.

1-8    2.  As used in this section:

1-9    (a) “Custody position” includes, without limitation, correctional officers

1-10  and related supervisory positions.

1-11    (b) “Grade” means the designation of a salary range for a classification

1-12  of employees.

1-13    Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2001.
