AN ACT relating to education; authorizing the Department of Education to spend from the state distributive school account money for grants to school libraries for purposes relating to educational technology; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. 1.  The Department of Education is hereby authorized to

1-2  spend from the state distributive school account for the Commission on

1-3  Educational Technology to grant money to school libraries for the

1-4  acquisition of licenses to access research databases and other on-line

1-5  resources appropriate for pupils, the sum of $500,000 for the 2001-2002

1-6  fiscal year.

1-7    2.  Any remaining balance of the sum authorized for expenditure

1-8  pursuant to subsection 1 must not be committed for expenditure after
June 30, 2002, and reverts to the state distributive school account as soon

1-9  as all payments of money committed have been made.

1-10    Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2001.
