AN ACT making an appropriation to the Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Nevada for expenses relating to the training of volunteers, the coordination of the “Family to Family” program and the evaluation of its success, and the operation of a toll-free telephone number for persons to call who need help caring for a family member with a serious brain disorder; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. 1.  There is hereby appropriated from the state general

1-2  fund to the Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Nevada the sum of $75,000 for

1-3  expenses relating to the training of volunteers, the coordination of the

1-4  “Family to Family” program and the evaluation of its success, and the

1-5  operation of a toll-free telephone number for persons to call who need help

1-6  caring for a family member with a serious brain disorder.

1-7    2.  Upon acceptance of the money appropriated by subsection 1, the

1-8  Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Nevada agrees to:

1-9    (a) Prepare and transmit a report to the Interim Finance Committee on

1-10  or before December 15, 2002, that describes each expenditure made from

1-11  the money appropriated by subsection 1 from the date on which the money

1-12  was received by the Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Nevada through

1-13  December 1, 2002; and

1-14    (b) Upon request of the Legislative Commission, make available to the

1-15  Legislative Auditor any of the books, accounts, claims, reports, vouchers or


2-1  other records of information, confidential or otherwise and irrespective of

2-2  their form or location, that the Legislative Auditor deems necessary to

2-3  conduct any audit of the use of the money appropriated pursuant to

2-4  subsection 1.

2-5    Sec. 2.  Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by section 1

2-6  of this act must not be committed for expenditure after June 30, 2003, and

2-7  reverts to the state general fund as soon as all payments of money

2-8  committed have been made.

2-9    Sec. 3.  This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
