AN ACT relating to the public utilities commission of Nevada; revising provisions governing certain education and informational services provided by the commission; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1. NRS 704.961 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2    704.961  The commission shall expend [up to $500,000] such money

1-3  as it determines appropriate from its reserve account to provide education

1-4  and informational services necessary to educate and inform the residents

1-5  [in] of this state on issues related to the provision of energy in this state,

1-6  including, without limitation, the provision of competitive utility services

1-7  [in this state. The commission shall contract with an independent person to

1-8  provide such educational and informational services.] and the

1-9  conservation of energy.
