AN ACT relating to providers of foster care; requiring the division of child and family
services of the department of human resources to establish a program for the
compensation of such providers for damage to their property caused by foster
children in their care; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. Chapter 424
of NRS is hereby amended by adding thereto a
1-2 new section to read as
follows:
1-3 1. The division shall establish by regulation a
program for the
1-4 compensation of a provider of foster care for any out-of-pocket
expenses
1-5 necessarily incurred by the provider of foster care as a result of
any
1-6 damage to his property caused by a foster child in his care, which
are not
1-7 reimbursed by his insurance carrier or any other source.
1-8 2. The regulations required by this section must
include:
1-9 (a) A procedure for the
submission to and consideration by the
1-10 division of a request for such compensation; and
1-11 (b) Any requirements,
standards and criteria for the provision of such
1-12 compensation by the division.
1-13 3. For the purposes of this section, “provider
of foster care” means a
1-14 person who is licensed by the division pursuant to NRS 424.030 to
1-15 conduct a family foster home or group foster home.
1-16 Sec. 2. This act becomes effective on July 1, 2001.
