AN ACT relating to public employees; increasing the salaries of certain employees of the Department of Prisons and the Division of Mental Health and Developmental Services of the Department of Human Resources; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1    Section 1.  1.  The Department of Personnel shall increase by one

1-2  grade the level of compensation on the pay plan for employees in the

1-3  classified service of the state that is adopted pursuant to NRS 284.175 for

1-4  each person employed by the Department of Prisons or the Division of

1-5  Mental Health and Developmental Services of the Department of Human

1-6  Resources as a forensic specialist or in a related supervisory position,

1-7  effective retroactively to January 1, 2001.

1-8    2.  The Department of Personnel shall increase by one grade the level

1-9  of compensation on the pay plan for employees in the classified service of

1-10  the state that is adopted pursuant to NRS 284.175 for each person who is

1-11  employed by the Department of Prisons in a full-time position as a nurse,

1-12  recreational therapist, radiologist, psychologist, laboratory technician or

1-13  social worker in:

1-14    (a) The clinic, infirmary or mental health intake unit of the regional

1-15  medical facility at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center; or

1-16    (b) The clinic, infirmary or mental health intake unit at the Southern

1-17  Desert Correctional Center.

1-18    3.  In addition to his regular salary and any other payment he is entitled

1-19  to receive, any physician who is employed by the Department of Prisons in

1-20  a full-time position in:

1-21    (a) The clinic, infirmary or mental health intake unit of the regional

1-22  medical facility at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center; or


2-1    (b) The clinic, infirmary or mental health intake unit at the Southern

2-2  Desert Correctional Center,

2-3  is entitled to receive a 5 percent increase in the amount of his regular

2-4  salary.

2-5    4.  As used in this section, “grade” means the designation of a salary

2-6  range for a classification of employees.

2-7    Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2001.
