Senate Concurrent RESOLUTION—Providing that the Nevada Legislature agrees that the Senate must consist of 23 Senators and the Assembly must consist of 46 Assemblymen for the purposes of reapportionment and redistricting by the 71st session of the Nevada Legislature.

1-1    Whereas, The 71st session of the Nevada Legislature is required to

1-2  redistrict and reapportion the senatorial districts of the Senators and the

1-3  assembly districts of the Assemblymen; and

1-4    Whereas, The Nevada Legislature recognizes that an agreement on the

1-5  aggregate number of Senators and the aggregate number of Assemblymen

1-6  early in the legislative session will avoid unnecessary complications caused

1-7  by the proposal of a wide variety of redistricting plans based on different

1-8  aggregate numbers of Senators and different aggregate numbers of

1-9  Assemblymen; and

1-10    Whereas, The Nevada Legislature recognizes that if an agreement on

1-11  the aggregate number of Senators and the aggregate number of

1-12  Assemblymen is not reached early in the legislative session, additional

1-13  revenue and time would be needed to develop and consider a wide variety

1-14  of redistricting plans based on different aggregate numbers of Senators and

1-15  different aggregate numbers of Assemblymen; and

1-16    Whereas, The Nevada Legislature, having considered the needs of the

1-17  people of this state, finds advisable an increase in the aggregate number of

1-18  Senators from 21 to 23 and an increase in the aggregate number of

1-19  Assemblymen from 42 to 46; now, therefore, be it

1-20    Resolved by the Senate of the State of Nevada, the Assembly

1-21  Concurring, That the Nevada Legislature hereby agrees that the Senate

1-22  must consist of 23 Senators and the Assembly must consist of 46

1-23  Assemblymen for the purposes of reapportionment and redistricting by the

1-24  71st session of the Nevada Legislature.
