Senate Concurrent RESOLUTION—Commending a recipient of the 2001 Prudential Spirit of Community Award, Jennifer Johansson.

 

1-1    Whereas, Jennifer Johansson, an esteemed resident of Reno and a

1-2  student at Bishop Manogue High School, recently received national

1-3  recognition for exemplary volunteer service as a recipient of the 2001

1-4  Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and

1-5    Whereas, This prestigious award, presented by The Prudential

1-6  Insurance Company of America in partnership with the National

1-7  Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers

1-8  across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to

1-9  serving their communities by showing personal initiative and leadership in

1-10  providing volunteer service; and

1-11    Whereas, Jennifer Johansson earned this award by giving generously

1-12  of her time and energy to raise money to fight Iodine Deficiency Disorder,

1-13  the leading cause of mental retardation among poor and uneducated people

1-14  around the world; and


2-1    Whereas, By demonstrating exceptional leadership qualities and

2-2  outstanding service to her community, Jennifer Johansson serves as an

2-3  inspiration and role model to the young people of the State of Nevada;

2-4  now, therefore, be it

2-5    Resolved by the Senate of the State of Nevada, the Assembly

2-6  Concurring, That the members of the 71st session of the Nevada

2-7  Legislature do hereby commend Jennifer Johansson for her leadership and

2-8  initiative, and congratulate her for receiving the Prudential Spirit of

2-9  Community Award; and be it further

2-10    Resolved, That the Nevada Legislature commends Jennifer Johansson

2-11  for her generosity of spirit and selfless endeavors in volunteering her time

2-12  to the residents of her community and the State of Nevada; and be it further

2-13    Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate prepare and transmit a copy

2-14  of this resolution to Jennifer Johansson.
