Whereas, The resolution of disputes can be divisive, costly, time-consuming and complex when achieved through litigation and formal court proceedings in which parties are adversaries and subject to formalized procedures; and

1-3  with the help of a trained, impartial mediator, reach mutually satisfying

1-4  solutions; and

1-5    Whereas, Mediation offers an option for businesses, consumers,

1-6  families, landlords and tenants, neighborhoods and others to resolve

1-7  conflicts in an expeditious and cost-effective manner, as well as in a

1-8  manner that may preserve the relationship of the parties; and

2-1    Whereas, The Mediators of Southern Nevada, Inc., and the Nevada

2-2  Dispute Resolution Coalition recognize members of their communities for

2-9  with celebrations of peace making efforts to remind our residents of the

2-10  productive and satisfying options that mediation services provide, and to

2-11  encourage participation in this problem-solving alternative; and be it

2-12  further

2-13    Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate prepare and transmit a copy
