AN ACT making an appropriation to the Interim Finance Committee for allocation to White Pine County for the purchase and restoration of 120 miles of Nevada Northern Railroad track that connects Ely to the Union Pacific track near Wells; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. 1. There is hereby appropriated from the State
1-2 General Fund to the Interim Finance Committee the sum of
1-3 $500,000 for allocation to White Pine County for the purchase and
1-4 renovation of 120 miles of Nevada Northern Railroad track that
1-5 connects Ely to the Union Pacific track near Wells.
2-1 2. The Interim Finance Committee shall not allocate any
2-2 money appropriated by subsection 1 until the Committee receives
2-3 such documentation as it deems necessary from White Pine County
2-4 showing that the County:
2-5 (a) Is able to purchase the Nevada Northern Railroad track that
2-6 connects Ely to the Union Pacific track near Wells; and
2-7 (b) Has adequately shown that there is an industrial need for the
2-8 line.
2-9 3. The Interim Finance Committee is not required to allocate
2-10 the entire amount appropriated by subsection 1.
2-11 Sec. 2. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by
2-12 section 1 of this act must not be allocated by the Interim Finance
2-13 Committee after July 1, 2005, and reverts to the State General Fund
2-14 as soon as all payments of money committed have been made.
2-15 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
